Six Traits to Look for in a Future Spouse

Are you looking for a spouse? Or maybe you're too young to be even thinking about that right now.

But really you're never to young to know what are good or bad characteristics to have in a future spouse. Maybe you won't be getting married any time soon, but you can be taking note of Biblical godly characteristics.

The Desiring God blog, of which I highly recommend for some good solid reads, posted an article that gave six good solid biblical characteristics that should be sought for in a future spouse and that I found helpful, so I thought I would share the link with ya'll. Maybe some of you will even be inspired to explore the Desiring God blog further if it be your first time visiting it. ;)

After you've read the article, come back here and share your thoughts about what you thought of it.

Do you agree with the author?

Would you add anything to your own list (it's not an exhaustive list given, so most likely you would)? And what kind of traits do you consider important?

Would you change something he said?

Share your thoughts! Start a discussion! I would love to hear! ;)

  1. I think a part of point 2 (does this person make you stronger) is also tied to "can you make them stronger?" This way, the goal is not necessarily how they can serve you, but also how you can serve and support your spouse. Andrew Peterson's song "Dancing in the Minefields" says it "the only way to find your life is to lay your own life down."

I agree with the concept, and it's certainly something I'll be looking for in my one day spouse. But it's equally important to remember that you need to be the same supportive person to them that you want them to be back to you.

    1. Yes, I totally agree with you! In fact, I think probably any of these things are thing that if you wish to have it in a spouse than it should be something that you are going to try to be yourself a d most likely are things they would want to see in you.
