Flowers in Winter

I have always liked flowers and I always will, but I don't think I have appreciated them so much as I do now. This fresh enjoyment all comes from simply living in Minnesota during winter.

Minnesota winters basically consist of snow from November to May. This being my first winter here, I am not sure of all the facts about a MN winter, but I can tell you that not only must we enjoy looking at snow for about six months, but some days are just excruciatingly cold, as in negative 20 or 30 or 50 or whatever. You get the point though. Its cold! And then when the warm days do come (positive 10° is considered warm around here) we get super excited. But it gets better! When the weather gets above freezing, like in the past few days, it gets even more wonderful. I have had the pleasure and honor of stepping in just a few "puddles" of water that ended up being like 7 or so inches deep. That makes for some rather cold wet feet. ;) So all in all, winter is wonder and snow is wonderful, but spring flowers are wonderful, too, because its just not something you will see popping out of the ground in winter around these parts.

I must give thanks where thanks is due. The flowers were given to my roommates and I from some of the guys in my class! Thanks, guys! Ya'll are awesome!

*Note: This post has been written for you, Mom, because you wanted to know what is happening around here. I hope you got a marvelous image in your head of me stepping in the "pond" that I thought was a "puddle". ;) Or you possibly even heard me scream another time when I stepped on thin ice (that I thought was strong) and  fell through the 7 inches of water while classmates were watching. ;)

    Thanks to the guys who were so thoughtful and kind to give you all flowers! I am grateful to the Lord for blessing you with godly friends! I am glad you can rejoice in the midst of an extremely cold winter and see the beauty in it. Stomping through ice ponds is what I would expect from you! Actually Jane and I did the same thing after our road was passable and we could go for a walk in the ice, snow and slush! I would have enjoyed doing it with you!

    And we are enjoining 60 degree weather! ha ha! Of course there is a chance of snow or freezing rain next week! :(

Winnie the Pooh

I have a confession. Ok, not really a confession because just about everyone who actually knows me knows it and I am not ashamed of it, but.... I have an obsession, of sorts, with Winnie the Pooh! Yes, go ahead and laugh, but seriously, I kind of like him a lot (ok, not as much as Cowboys, but that is a different story). So my car has a little Winnie the Pooh hanging on the mirror and he basically is my friend that accompanies me on all my road trips and road adventures of getting lost (happens a lot). So, whether you like it or not this post is Winnie the Pooh quotes. I probably just scared away half my readers, but you know if you can't put up with my Winnie the Pooh obsession for just one day than that is really just too bad. Be thankful I did not decide to do a Seven Brides for Seven Brothers post instead. I would understand if you left me after that.
